Presently there is no restriction of wearing jewellery while traveling to abroad from India, but ensure to obtain an export certificate from the concerned customs officer, this will help you to bring back those gold ornaments to India without paying any customs duty. Import of gold in permitted in the form of Gold bars and gold ornaments, I am doubtful whether import of gold coins are allowed. Import of gold in the form of coins and medallions is prohibited as per Customs Circular # 34/2013. Also you need consider the tax aspects while selling the gold bars/ornaments in India

I have been keenly going through your various valuable articles. Further, I have a copy of your NRI Guide 2013. The updated version will be more informative and I want to keep it. Actually, you are rendering a service to many NRIs who do not have much knowledge about these rules. With best wishes Govindan
